We’ve known for a while that the Switch port for Super Mario 3D World will be accompanied by a new campaign, Bowser’s Fury. We now have an idea of what it will look like, which is amazing.
Super Mario 3D World is one of the last major Wii U exclusives to arrive on Switch, which launches on February 12th. It would be great to finally get this 3D Mario adventure on Switch, but Bower’s Fury looks set to be a significant addition to the base adventure. Nintendo released a trailer today showcasing the new mode, which you can see above.
In some ways, Bowser’s Fury is more like Super Mario 3D World. The aesthetics are similar, and Mario can still take on the shape of a cat. But it also looks noticeably different. The 3D World fixed camera is gone, instead we opted for a presentation that looks more like Super Mario Odyssey. Without a fixed camera, four-player co-op is not suitable. But it also seems like the game will be less linear and more open than the stages of 3D World.
Bowser Jr., almost always an adversary in Mario games, also works with Mario in Bowser’s Fury. He even has a magic brush that he uses in Super Mario Sunshine.
Now I’m just wondering how big Bowser’s Fury is going to be. Is this a short bonus campaign or something completely new to the game? Be that as it may, Bowser’s Fury looks like a nice addition to the already existing 3D platformer.
