Nintendo is launching a special edition of its Switch console to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. The publisher has unveiled the red and blue Mario console, which will be released on February 12 alongside Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
The Mario-themed Nintendo Switch is similar in volume to the Animal Crossing model. Like this Switch, the Mario system has a unique body and colorful Joy-Con controllers. The system and dock are red, and the Joy-Con controllers are symmetrical red with blue accents.
“We hope players enjoy their way through two great Mario adventures in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury with a lot of feline fun, whether playing alone or with family and friends,” said Nick Chavez, Head of Marketing for Nintendo of America. “Alongside the Nintendo Switch – Mario Red & Blue Edition, we are delighted to offer these new products, which have marked over 35 years of Super Mario adventure.”
The Nintendo Switch Mario Red & Blue Edition launches for $ 300. It doesn’t include Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, which can be purchased separately for $ 60.
This is likely the last big deal in Nintendo’s plans for Super Mario’s 35th anniversary. The company previously released Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a dedicated Mario Game & Watch system, and more to celebrate 35 years of Super Mario Bros.
