Razer shows smart mask, futuristic gaming chair, and new RTX laptops


Razer showcased a smart mask, futuristic gaming chair and two new Razer Blade laptops that use Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30 series graphics processing unit (GPU).

The gaming brand made announcements at the virtual tech show CES 2021. The gaming chair is called Project Brooklyn and the smart mask is Project Hazel.

Through concept design, Razer’s development and engineering teams can evaluate community feedback and influence the future Razer product portfolio. Earlier concept designs have either entered the market or have been incorporated into shipping products.

The smart mask is designed to help improve everyday comfort and overcome common social interaction challenges, while the new convertible gaming chair delivers a truly immersive experience with tactile feel, graphics and lighting in a flexible form factor.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Razer has been actively fighting COVID-19. He converted one of his manufacturing facilities to produce certified medical masks and donated a million of them to healthcare providers as part of his Razer Health initiative.

As a natural continuation and development of this initiative, Razer’s Project Hazel Universal Smart Mask is aimed at an increased emphasis on hygiene and preparedness for unexpected health risks, as well as the environmental concerns of disposable masks.

The concept design of the N95 mask provides medical grade respirator protection with removable and rechargeable active fans and Smart Pods that regulate airflow for optimal breathability. Their high bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) smart pods filter at least 95% of airborne particles and have high liquid resistance, according to Razer.

To improve social interaction, Project Hazel has a clear and transparent design so that others can see facial features such as smiling or laughing and allows hearing-impaired lips to read what the user is saying. Interior lighting turns on automatically in the dark, allowing the wearer to express their thoughts clearly regardless of lighting conditions.

In addition, because masks can also drown out voices, the new Razer VoiceAmp (patent pending) technology uses a built-in microphone and amplifier to enhance the user’s speech for clear communication while maintaining safety in social situations.

To reduce the waste generated by disposable masks, the Project Hazel Smart Mask uses replaceable and rechargeable disc-type fans that can be disinfected from bacteria and viruses by placing them in a versatile wireless fast charging box with UV light disinfection inside.

Indicator lights show the charge level, and the long battery life after a full charge allows you to use the mask all day. The waterproof, scratch-resistant mask is durable and made from recyclable plastic to minimize the waste generated by using disposable masks.

The intelligent mask with silicone lining has active cooling and air regulation to provide fresh air and remove carbon dioxide. The result is a hermetic seal on the adjustable ear hooks that are custom sized for a secure fit that doesn’t block your mouth.

For added entertainment and style, users can activate two customizable Razer Chroma RGB lighting zones offering 16.8 million colors and a range of dynamic lighting effects. Razer plans to continue working on this.

Brooklyn Project

The Project Brooklyn gaming chair concept design is designed to transform the gaming chair into an immersive gaming experience for both PC and console games.

Project Brooklyn has carbon fiber and RGB lighting. This is a gaming station with a panoramic view on an unfolded 60-inch display. It also has tactile feedback built into the seat and 4D armrests that convert into adjustable peripheral tables.

The adjustable platform on which the chair is mounted is wired and reminiscent of the design of the Razer Raptor monitor. The 60-inch full-screen OLED display with full surround sound is mounted on the back of the chair and can be deployed at the touch of a button. Folds down to the back of the chair when not in use, the retractable display assembly gives you a panoramic view.

Fully modular 4D armrests neatly hide folding tables with flexible ergonomics, allowing you to easily switch between PC games using your mouse and keyboard and console games. Each armrest has separate panels for different keyboard and mouse ergonomics, and each half folds down when not in use.

Building on the success of the Razer tactile feedback prototype shown at CES 2019, Razer’s new built-in HyperSense integration has been built around the chair frame for maximum tactile immersion. High-precision independently activated modules allow you to feel the most sensitive vibrations felt during gameplay, such as jumping into the water or landing on a platform for a truly immersive gaming experience.

Razer Blade 15 and Razer Blade Pro 17

Returning to the real world, Razer also showcased its Razer Blade 15 and Razer Blade Pro 17 gaming laptops, featuring the new Nvidia 30 series graphics processing units (GPUs).

At CES 2021, the company showcased laptops with new display options with higher refresh rates and higher resolutions. Laptops start at $ 1,700.

The Blade 15 and Blade Pro 17 have options for Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs, all the way up to the flagship Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. The latest models offer up to 2x more energy efficiency than previous versions.

You can use Whisper Mode 2.0 to improve acoustic control when working in quiet environments.

For the first time, the Expanded Blade 15 will be available with three unique 15.6-inch display options: Full HD at 360Hz, Quad HD at 240Hz with Nvidia G-Sync, and a stunning Ultra HD OLED display with wide color space at 60Hz …

The Blade Pro 17 will also be available with three different 17.3-inch displays: Full HD at 360Hz, Quad HD at 165Hz, and Ultra HD at 120Hz.

The Blade Pro 17 remains one of the thinnest 17-inch gaming laptops on the market at just 19.9mm tall.

Plus, Razer Blade users will experience immersive audio for a 360-degree soundscape when listening to movies, music or games with THX Spatial Audio through any analog headphones or speakers on the device. The laptops will go on sale in the first quarter.
