Mobile games publisher Zynga partnered with Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am and his I.am Angel Foundation help raise $ 5 million in educational donations.
Zynga will sponsor the launch of the American Dream GoFundMe initiative. The funds will be used to unlock STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) learning opportunities in America’s underprivileged communities.
The mobile gaming company donated $ 250,000 to the I.am Foundation and to the initiative from the company’s social performance fund, a $ 25 million charitable foundation. Zynga has teamed up with the Black Eyed Peas in another social distancing announcement during the holidays.
Zynga set up the foundation in June following the Black Lives Matter protests. The foundation invests in educational and charitable causes related to diversity, equality and inclusion.
Zynga will also leverage the breadth of its channels and audiences to raise awareness of the campaign and encourage others and organizations to follow. In the popular game Words with Friends on January 12, Dream will be the word of the day.
During January and February, Zynga will release additional new content to draw attention and draw attention to fundraising on social media, blogs and employee channels.
Zynga’s efforts are spearheaded in part by Crystal Bowen, Zynga’s deputy general counsel and chairman of Black Zynga Union (BZU), an internal resource group for colored employees.
To kick off the campaign, Will.i.am released their latest single, American dream, which focuses on education as an issue of social justice and a building block of economic equality. The single is the first song released to launch GoFundMe Campaign and is now available for streaming via Apple Music.
